MOTIVATION
This unit teaches me a lot how to motivate
students to teach the language. Motivation is one of the most important keys to success. It lets pupil to apply every action and goal
to learn new language in this case English. And there are several factors which can influence
motivation. These factors are achievement, advancement, autonomy, personal
growth, recognition and responsibility. It is important to encourage learners
to be active in class where they can feel motivated to learn new things that
will be useful for them. According to Kendra Cherry a Psychology
expert “the term motivation refers to factors that activate, direct, and
sustain goal-directed behavior... Motives are the "whys" of behavior
- the needs or wants that drive behavior and explain what we do. We don't
actually observe a motive; rather, we infer that one exists based on the
behavior we observe." (Nevid, 2013)
There are two type of
motivation; intrinsic and extrinsic motivation
Teacher needs to motivated students in every situation to teach the language. It is necessary that students have higher autonomy in the class. There are many strategies to motivated students in class such as: warm-up, interesting topic where students can be interested to exposure their langauge freely. In conclusion, in order to motivated students we as teacher need to start class with a motivational game in order to engage learners in the class. This type of exercice help them to feel confidence with their language.
